From the entrance of the Velvet Cave on Daalhemerweg to Pieterstraat 1A (the church in the center of Valkenburg) is about a 10-minute walk, depending on your pace.

Start: 🎄 Velvet Cave Christmas Market
⬇️ walk toward the center
➡️ via Daalhemerweg
➡️ toward Grendelplein / center
➡️ continue to St. Pieterstraat

End point: ⭐ New Church – Incredible Sand

Distance: about 800 meters – 1 km
Walking time: about 10 minutes (leisurely pace).

By car

From the direction of Eindhoven: Coming from Eindhoven, follow the A2 highway toward Maastricht and take the exit for Valkenburg. Then follow the signs to Valkenburg.

From the direction of Brussels: Follow the A3/E40 highway from Brussels toward Liège. In Liège, follow the E25 highway toward Maastricht. In Maastricht, take the A79 highway toward Valkenburg/Heerlen, then take exit 3 for Valkenburg. At the bottom of the exit, turn right toward Valkenburg.

From the direction of Cologne – Aachen: Drive from Cologne toward Aachen, Aachen Heerlen E314, follow the A79 highway toward Heerlen, Valkenburg, Maastricht. Take exit 3 Valkenburg-Houthem (not Valkenburg Centrum). At the bottom of the exit, turn left at the roundabouts toward Valkenburg.

In Valkenburg, signage will direct you to the general parking areas.

Public transport

Valkenburg aan de Geul is centrally located in South Limburg and is easily accessible by public transport. Valkenburg aan de Geul has a train station which is a 10-minute walk from the Velvet Cave Christmas Market. Trains run four times an hour from Maastricht and Heerlen to and from Valkenburg. Valkenburg is also accessible by train from Kerkrade and Aachen (Germany). In addition, there are various bus lines that serve Valkenburg a/d Geul. For current info and times, see: www.9292.nl

We advise you to use public transport as much as possible, given the large crowds expected.
